I'll be doing a little magic noodling when Essek wakes up tomorrow afternoon, but I'll save enough for Major Image and we should be done by dinner time. Do you want to get take out and discuss wall art?

I wasn't worried ...

[ Pulled along with her, he swerves to sink down heavily on the couch and tug her along, once Jester has grabbed her food. ]

I thought you'd made some new friends, that's all.

[She settles in against Fjord's chest, plate of toast in her lap. She definitely has paint smeared on her hands and arms and face, but she's pretty sure most of it is dried by now. She munches happily into it, and thinks for a moment how she really has done a lot of growing up, because she eats vegetables all the time now, and actually likes them.

Jester tilts her chin up toward Fjord, the better to see him.]

Oh, no, nothing like that. Well, I did make a friend, and he asked for a painting studio from the Augur. So I went over there right away to check it out, you know, and then I thought, "I'm not doing anything right now!" So I just picked up a brush and started painting. [She wriggles happily, thinking about her huge beautiful canvas.]

I can't wait to show you. It's huge and so pretty!

[ Finally able to relax, Fjord dozes with an arm around Jester and a hand patting absently over her legs where they hang to one side of his lap. He tips his head back on the couch and closes his eyes, yawning. ]

Did you take any pictures?

Oh shoot!

[Jester grumbles, crumbs spilling down her front as she takes another bite of toast.] No, I forgot because I was in such a rush! But if you want, I could show you tomorrow?

[halforc]

Sure, I'm not busy. I'd like to see what you've been up to in your arty hideout.

[ With a kiss to her forehead. ]

Great! I can't wait. Ooh, I can show you the tattoo I did the other day, though—

[She fiddles with her bracelet for a minute, before projecting the image of the hidden-dick circuit board she'd tattooed on Noiz.]

Look at how beautiful it is!

[ Fjord squints, trying to make out what it is he's looking at. In the end he decides to go with a neutral, ]

It's very ... geometric. What is it? Oh! I see a dick.

I have no idea what it means, really. He showed me examples and then I asked if I could hide a dick in it. And he let me!

[Jester's beaming, tail flicking back and forth proudly.] I even learned how to use the tattoo machine! It's way faster than the other way.

Is the machine more dangerous?

[ Sounds like it! ]

I mean...maybe? But it's also less painful and doesn't make you pass out, so. I think it evens out.

[halforc]

Well, I'm glad you're having fun. If it involves permanently marking the idiots on this island with dicks, all the better.

[ He's proud of her, giving her a cuddle. ]

Do you ... think it would be a good idea to make a small mark on us? The Nein, I mean. Just a scratch somewhere so we know we're the same people if we disappear and return.

[She sets her now-empty plate aside and settles properly into Fjord's lap with her arms circled around his shoulders. His suggestion earns him a raised eyebrow as Jester considers it.]

That's really not a bad idea, actually. What if I put a little dot behind everyone's ear or something?
