[ So here's the thing: Matt suggested this particular outing because of what he knew about Jester's interests. A quest for the best pastries in Sumarlok seemed like a no-brainer. But despite his tendency to over-purchase, whether it's candies or alcohol or herbs for spells, Matt doesn't actually eat that much sugar. Which means that by this point in the pastry crawl, he's feeling decidedly buzzed.

They've ended up at one of Matt's favorite bakeries in the Sapphire District, which not coincidentally is the only one that's open 24 hours. The plates in front of them are a confectionary wasteland, a testament to just how thorough this search has been.

Matt heaves a sigh, satisfied and dazed in about equal measure. ]

So what's the verdict?

[ Somewhere between the eclairs and the millefeuille, he's lost track. There's a bit of powdered sugar in his hair, a smudge of jelly on his cheek, and he's mostly trying to drink water at this point, but he's feeling pretty good. ]

[left at Jester's door is a box containing a few bags of tea, several different kinds of sweets, a (pink!) mug with her name painted on it, a pink sketchbook, and a tiny felted unicorn, as well as a card shaped like a donut.]

Don't tell anyone else, but I'm the most glad that you're here. I hope you're doing okay. You must miss your mom a lot. But when I miss home a lot, I try to remember that the sky is the same, no matter where you are. So when you're looking up at the sky, you can think about your mom looking up at the same sky too.

Try to save some of your snacks for a tea date together.

[When it comes to thirsty behaviour, it’s bad enough to send a friend a thirsty text after spending half the month having almost nothing to do with them. It’s especially egregious to be so caught up in sending said thirsty message that you send it to the wrong person—especially when it’s a different friend to whom you have been just as unavailable of late.

But Noctium makes clowns of us all, and this month it’s Liem’s turn to wear the red foam nose, so on the first day of monster week, as sunset is closing in on Sumarlok, the following message arrives:]

Dressed in a crisp white shirt with a black vest and bow tie, he looks rather like a host or bartender at a high-end restaurant—but the flirtatious look on his face is anything but professional.]

[The day after a certain birthday party, Konoha is feeling... a lot of things. And only some of them can be fixed with deliveries, but. ... Wait, she doesn't know her address, eight million myriad of gods it's going to ruin the surprise...]

[ In the midst of all the lovin' feeling in the air, Nott has found Jester to be both the easiest of her friends to shop for and somehow one of the hardest? Because, like, Nott knows what she likes, definitely, but also, what if she already gets herself all the stuff she likes?
